Challenge #8
In your own space, celebrate a personal win from the past year: it can be a list of fanworks you're especially proud of, a gift of your time to the community, a quality or skill you cultivated in yourself, something you generally feel went well.
2021 feels like a bit of a blur, and yet like not much actually happened, but here a few things I am proud of from the past year:
==Real Life Stuff==
*I got double vaccinated! (and I have my booster scheduled for next week)
*I helped my mother through some health related stuff, and although it was sometimes stressful we dealt with it
*I read 40 books last year, and completed my 2021 Book Bingo Card
*I cleared out and sorted my bookshelf, and used my Free Little Library a lot (where you leave a book and take a book)
==Fandom Stuff==
===Fanfiction===
These are the two fics I think I am most proud of writing this past year:
Starfleet's Golden Boy in a Poly Triad?
Word Count: 1302 words
Fandom: Star Trek: TOS
Rating: G
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Kirk/Spock/McCoy
Summary: Gossip column about the TOS triumvirate
Author's Note: It was very fun to write from an outsider POV, and try and capture the feel of a gossip column
Know Thy Serpent Well
Word Count: 4078 words
Fandom: Good Omens
Rating: G
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Aziraphale/Crowley
Summary: Sir Aziraphale is sent to the Forbidden Bog to drive out a supposedly giant serpent, but, unknown to him, it is also the home of his good friend.
Author's Note: I had a lot of fun writing this one. I really liked putting Aziraphale and Crowley in fairy tale/fantasy setting, and still trying to make it feel like it was them.
===Art===
I make a lot of cover art for challenges and what not, these are the two I think I am most proud of:
*Art for A Hundred Feet Under (MCU, Tony, Peter, Pepper and Rhodey) - I had to make each security camera image as separate pieces, before compositing the main image. It looks deceptively simple, but a lot of time went into making it.
*Art for The God Squad (SPN, Sam & Dean) - This one again had a lot of small finicky steps to it, especially since my older version of Photoshop didn't have a feature that the tutorial I was following used, so I had to find a way to work around it.
I also make moodboards, the two I think I was most proud of this past year were:
*Samwena Week (Day 5) Alternative Universe - Sailor & Mermaid (SPN, Sam/Rowena) - Sam and Rowena reimagined as a sailor and the mermaid that rescues him
*Dean/Benny Speakeasy AU (SPN, Dean/Benny) - AU moodboard where Benny owns a speakeasy in Louisiana and Dean is a high roller
